The Phyllanthus fluitans is a floating plant widely distributed in Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. It is also known as "Red root floater" due to its red roots.
This beautiful plant features round, floating leaves that are water-repellent and can attain a deep brown-red color under bright lighting. It is easy to grow in aquariums with good lighting and nutrient-rich water.
It multiplies by branching and breaking its slender stems. Additionally, it can also grow in wet, muddy substrate. Under optimal conditions, small white flowers may appear on the leaf stems.
The Red root floater is particularly attractive in open tanks and well-lit paludariums and is suitable for biotope tanks that mimic the stagnant waters of South America.
