The review concerns the mkII model, i.e., the black ones in the skroutz photo, those with the wood veneer as a finish are the mkI. The difference is in the position of the tweeter, which in the mkII touches the woofer.

I went for these speakers after the Klipsch R51M and the Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2, and I didn't regret it at all.

I took some time to write a review because I wanted to listen to them properly. They were purchased in September '23 for €369.

They are the definition of mid-range speakers, with a very fast response in the deep and permanently present bass, and an extremely detailed and "sunny" tweeter that doesn't tire you during long listening sessions. However, the vocals, being genuine English speakers, are a bit "behind" and lack the pompous and tiring brightness of Klipsch speakers. The sound overall is not as linear as Klipsch.

The speakers play from day one without me adjusting anything on the equalizer, no bass or anything, and I have fallen in love with them because I can listen to anything from Amy Winehouse to Metallica without making any adjustments.

I had heard about the quality of Acoustic Energy, but I didn't believe it to such an extent. And here I am saying that the cabinet is not made of traditional MDF but HDF 15 mm, 3 mm thinner.

HDF allows the use of thinner cabinet walls without losing acoustic performance, as the mass and rigidity of HDF 15 mm are greater than the previous MDF 18 mm. This can be easily noticed by listening to the bass of these speakers, how solid, full, fast, and deep it is. I believe that they should belong to a price category above €500. Especially compared to the two previous speakers I had, they are much... much better. Overall, besides the bass, the speakers provide an acoustic experience with incredible detail, resolution, clarity, and a huge soundstage that is so wide that's why I say they should belong to a higher price category. They have a dynamic range that you will never need to turn the volume all the way up. I would say that their strong point is the midrange and then the highs, but they don't separate the sound like Klipsch speakers and they don't give you any annoying electronic sound in the highs. If you listen to them somewhere, try them with Tool's "The Pot" and you will remember me, or with "Perfect 10" by The Beautiful South if you're not into rock. You will easily understand how well they handle and how a small speaker can produce such a "big" and full sound.

I like to change bookshelf speakers from time to time, but with these, I can't find any flaws, neither in terms of sound nor in terms of quality, which is far ahead of the others in the category, and they really can't be compared in any way. They play almost all genres of music that I listen to, and that's not a small thing, exceptionally well without any equalization. I should mention that especially in afro latin funk soul genres, they excel, and my neighbor downstairs asks me to turn up the volume...

I drive them with a Yamaha AS-301 (always with a stand-alone DAC) and in another room with an SMSL DA-9 and a DAC SU-6. Of course, it should be noted that in larger living rooms, they might lack a bit, especially if they are placed far apart from each other. Let's not forget that they are small boxes... Especially when compared to floorstanding speakers.
