The glass fabrics Mat (the full name is chopped strand mat) are fabrics made of thin short glass fibers, which are evenly dispersed in all directions on the surface of the fabric and bonded together with a special adhesive (Emulsion).
The glass fabric 300g/m2 Emulsion is compatible with all resins (polyesters) except epoxy resins. Glass fabrics Mat are the most widely used in polyester & composite constructions, as:
- They are easily shaped by hand.
- They are easily impregnated with almost all types of resins, providing the final object with high mechanical strengths.
- They are easy to sand, process mechanically, and have a high temperature resistance of 500oC.
- They are primarily used in the production method: hand lamination.
