Description

Raskolnikov is a law student living in poverty in St. Petersburg who commits a horrific double murder motivated by the desire to obtain a large sum of money. However, after the murder, he suffers from remorse, while his health begins to deteriorate due to the feeling of paranoia that haunts him. His life turns into a real hell when he is pursued by the astute investigator Porfiry Petrovich, who knows from the start that he is guilty and pushes him to make terrible mistakes. In the darkness of his life, Raskolnikov forms a relationship with the young prostitute, Sonia, who embodies comfort and hope, while at the same time his fellow student Razumikhin worries about his health and supports him. When suspicions are heightened and the noose tightens threateningly for Raskolnikov, the day will come when he will make a brave decision… Crime and Punishment has it all: it is classic, unique, deeply human, with great emphasis on the human soul and thought, on the human condition in general, it is a detective novel—or for some others a psychological one with philosophical implications—that reflects 19th-century Russia, with a multitude of protagonists sketched by the unparalleled pen of the incomparable Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Obviously the book is a masterpiece, but guys, there are things revealed on the back cover of the book that, even if you reach halfway through the book, you still haven't learned them from the author! It's so ironic to translate one of the most famous literary texts and do such a bad job on something as simple as the back cover. Call it a summary if you must, for heaven's sake!
