The Cryptocoryne parva from Sri Lanka is the smallest of all Cryptocorynes, reaching only 3-6 cm in height and with a rosette less than 5-8 cm in width. It is one of the few species that does not significantly change the shape and color of its leaves depending on the cultivation conditions. It requires more light than most other Cryptocorynes, as it almost loses its leaves underwater. Therefore, it should never be overshadowed by other plants.
