I have had it for about 8 months. Before this one, I had the 10. It is slightly better. At the same resolution, same settings, with the same size SD, it records a longer total video time, which means it has better file compression. I have already shot over 1000 short videos of 4-5 minutes. It has not presented any problems in any of them. I will address 2 common questions and issues.

First, batteries. The enduro (white) ones are incredibly durable even in cold or heat. Their performance does not drop much even after 2 years of use.
The second issue is overheating. The only GoPro that did not have such a problem was the 5. From then on, the cameras started having issues, culminating from the 9 onwards when they changed the material in the casing, which means they heat up extra from sun exposure. There is no way in any weather condition to record continuously for more than 15-20 minutes. In summer, in the sun, it records a maximum of 4-5 minutes. This happens because it overheats after a certain point and the battery does too. The solution is to rotate batteries at regular intervals. This way, you can continue recording even though the camera is heating up.

If you want to record continuously without changes, plugging in a power bank for example, or the only solution is the GoPro Hero 5 black.

Former owner of the Hero 5. I will speak purely as an amateur without any particular knowledge. For me and what I want to do, it is more than flawless. Let me explain:
1. On trips, I have enjoyed it as the hypersmooth works so well that you get beautiful shots without much difficulty. So you save space and effort compared to using a stabilizer.
2. In underwater shots (up to 5 meters below, I don't have the breath to go deeper, so I don't know), everything I have captured is clear.
3. For work, where I want to shoot some small videos for presentations, it is perfect as there are also spots with particular lighting and space.
4. I don't usually use it for sports, but I tried it with a bicycle and the result was impressive because the bumps of the route are not visible at all.
5. I rarely take photos, but with the videos I have seen and tweak my settings, they seem excellent. Obviously, they cannot be compared to a good smartphone camera.
6. Timelapse and slow motion, with a little practice, you can get very nice shots.

Observations:
- As for overheating, it hasn't happened to me yet because I either shoot short videos or the conditions are favorable (I haven't shot videos at 35 degrees, let's say).
- The sound is very good. It obviously cannot be compared to an external microphone, but compared to the 5 I had, it is night and day. When it goes into the sea, it gets a bit distorted, but once it dries, it returns.
- The battery is definitely upgraded compared to older models, but it is never enough. The GoPro Volta, from what I have seen, is ideal for long use.
- In low light conditions, with appropriate settings (whatever I have found on the internet), it is decent to satisfactory.
- The app on the phone may have limited editing capabilities. But I imagine for €10 a year, it's fine. It also has larger packages for computers, but I haven't reached that point. As for controlling the camera via the phone, it works great, and you can download files relatively quickly, it has a preview, and you can make all the settings with the camera at a distance.
Also, it is very useful that it can save settings depending on the situation (running, landscapes, horizontal projection, etc.) without needing to do it every time. You just select it and start.

Good or bad, to "unlock" its capabilities, additional accessories are needed. I have purchased the following:
- Extra batteries with a charger. You never run out.
- Beach set. Transparent case and stick that floats. There is no fear of losing it or hitting it.
- Vlogging setup with a case that has a slot for the mic adapter and lens.
- Lenses for clearer shots.
- Microphone (I use it very rarely).
- Charger for 4 outputs to charge everything simultaneously at night without waiting.
- Small tripods, mounts, adhesive mounts, silicone case for the camera with lens protection, magnetic clip for placement in tricky spots.
- Side cover with an opening for the type C port.

One of my next purchases is the Max Lens 2.0, which they say unlocks the capabilities of hypersmooth. But for now, with what I have, it covers me because I can use it in almost all situations I will need it. I imagine all these cameras in this category have similar capabilities, some a little more, some a little less. I preferred this one and I haven't regretted it for a moment.

P.S. It has excellent peripherals from other companies because the genuine ones are quite expensive (Ulanzi, Telestin, etc.). You need to have the appetite to search until you find what suits you. But always without haste because you will end up with dozens of components that you will never need.

Shot in 5K@50 (8-bit) and rendered in 4K@50 (8-bit).
I notice greater detail and visual sharpness, better image stabilization and horizon leveling, as well as improved color representation compared to the GoPro Hero 10.
The 2-3 nighttime videos are still under processing and unfortunately I do not see significant improvement compared to the Hero 10 [The DJI Osmo Action 3 shows better performance in nighttime videos and the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 (see my review) has both cameras for fun].

I have ordered the Lens Mod 2.0 and I am expecting it in the next few days. Once it arrives, I will conduct tests with it and likely upload more sample videos or even a camera and mod presentation.

Purchased at the end of September.

Let's start with the obvious:
If you have the Hero 11, do not upgrade to Hero 12, it doesn't make much sense.
The differences start to show when comparing it to the Hero 10 and are even greater if you have an older model.

Let me start with the negatives:
- All GoPros struggle in low light conditions and the 12 is no exception. If you want it for nighttime shots, look elsewhere.
- Although most of us didn't use it much, the GPS has now been completely removed, so it's not a good solution for users who use such metadata in their videos.
- It's an upgraded Hero 11 and not something truly groundbreaking. They could easily have named it Hero 11 Plus or Hero 11 Pro.
- The live preview doesn't work as well as in previous GoPros that supported it or like in the DJI Osmo Action, and if for some reason the app closes (e.g. from a phone call), when you reopen it, you see the classic black screen with the red record button that we know from the previous 3-4 generations of Hero.
- If you turn it off in any other mode besides video (e.g. Timelapse) and turn it back on after a while, it opens in video recording mode. There is an option in the settings to activate it in the last selected mode (e.g. Timelapse), but it doesn't seem to work. This will definitely create a problem in some cases (e.g. if you want to take multiple Timeshifts on a long journey with intermediate stops), because you have to be extra careful after each activation before you start recording video.

Now onto the positives:
- It is more resistant to overheating compared to previous models (but it can still shut down from overheating if it is in very high settings and doesn't get enough air).
- Its battery actually lasts longer (in 4K@50 SV I saw a difference of about +20 minutes, with an average video duration of 1 hour and 10 minutes).
- It has a 1/4" screw hole for mounting on a tripod without needing an additional adapter.
- It is more economical as an option than the previous GoPros were at their release (because it is actually an upgraded Hero 11).
- It is fully compatible with accessories for Hero 9/10/11 (e.g. ND filters) and with most mounting accessories for GoPro and other cameras (thanks to the female 1/4" on the base).
-Some may consider DJI's magnetic clip as the ultimate mounting solution and negatively comment on GoPro's obsession with screws and its own quick-release system, but in reality, GoPro's quick-release system is the truly perfect combination for quick and secure mounting, especially for use on moving vehicles, so I consider it positive that GoPro does not adopt DJI's magnets.
-Finally, one change I noticed coming from the Hero 10 and I do not know if it had already been implemented in the Hero 11 and simply passed on to the Hero 12 or if it is something that was done for the first time in the 12, is that now the clips from which a video is composed have increased in duration, from 5:20 to 12:48, so if you shoot a continuous video of e.g. 1 hour, in the camera folder you will not find 12 5-minute videos, but 5 12-minute ones, which means less clutter in editing.

At this stage, I am conducting tests and I see that its videos are clearer and more detailed than those of the Hero 10.

What impressed me is that, although I used the same settings as my Hero 10, it does not create that strange blue streaking in the sky that I was used to seeing in Hero 10 videos.

I tried Star Trails and the result is impressive and without requiring video editing software knowledge.
I still need to try Vehicle Lights.
