Volume I includes Shakespeare's first five historical tragedies: HENRY VI PARTS I, II and III, RICHARD III and KING JOHN. The text of the tragedies is accompanied by extensive commentary, a timeline of the author, bibliography and a detailed introduction to each tragedy and Shakespeare's historical tragedies in general by Tony Tanner.
