The book Girls Who Build is a guide celebrating the can-do attitude of dozens of dynamic girls ages 8-16 who know how to handle hammers, use saws, and build everything from shelves to playgrounds. Featuring photographs of the girls and their projects, this guide will inspire others to pick up power tools and learn that they can accomplish anything.

Carpenter Katie Hughes often found herself as the only woman on construction sites. To change this, she began teaching classes to girls ages 8-14, showing them how to drill, saw, and weld. Her classes quickly became booked summer camps, and she has now established her own nonprofit organization, Girls Build.
