Description

The R7000 of NetGear is a router, a device that connects other devices (e.g. computer, mobile, television) either wirelessly or with a cable, and shares internet access. It needs to be connected to a modem to access the internet. It is Wi-Fi 5 generation, the most widespread Wi-Fi standard, which can meet the needs of most users currently. There is now also the next generation Wi-Fi 6 which offers the ability to connect many more devices to serve the increasingly growing smart devices in a home. It emits a signal at two frequencies, 2.4 & 5GHz. It offers higher speeds compared to single band and can connect more devices. The 2.4Ghz frequency is the most widespread and has a long range. The 5Ghz provides higher speeds than 2.4Ghz but is more sensitive to obstacles (e.g. walls) that reduce its range. This difference, as well as its more limited use, helps to have fewer interferences from other networks.

The device has the ability to configure a VPN (Virtual Private Network) so that traffic from all devices on our network passes through it. The VPN acts as an intermediary between us and the rest of the internet, giving us the ability to appear geographically in another country and the pages we visit see the VPN address as the visitor's address instead of our own. This provides us with anonymity and access to content with geographic restrictions. VPN services are usually paid with a subscription.

It has an SPI firewall, a mechanism that controls the movement of data for patterns of known types of attacks (e.g. DDoS). Additionally, the NAT firewall hides the addresses of all devices on your local network behind a single address, increasing security. It offers WPA2 security, a protocol that replaced WPA in 2004 and uses AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) technology approved by the US government for classified documents. It is considered secure for home use.

    Απαράδεκτο firmware. Update σημαίνει ότι σου χαλάνε σκοπίμως το μηχάνημα ώστε να κολάει κάθε λιγο. Χαλιά και η νέα app εφαρμογή κλείνουν και χαλάνε δυνατότητες. Δεν έχω δει τίποτα τόσο γελοίο να σου σαμποτάρουν με forced update ένα αξιόλογο σε hardware router. Μαύρο από εμένα.

    Δεν είμαι gamer, δεν κατεβάζω 100 ΤΒ ταινίες την ημέρα, δεν το αγόρασα για την ταχύτητα του wifi, οπότε δεν ξέρω αν αξίζει η συσκευή για όλα αυτά. Το αγόρασα για να έχω καλύτερο έλεγχο στις συσκευές που συνδέονται στο δίκτυο του σπιτιού μου και για τα parental controls. Είναι η χειρότερη επιλογή που έχω κάνει ποτέ. Η συσκευή από μόνη της δεν έχει καθόλου parental controls, ούτε καν ένα σοβαρό interface για να διαχειρίζεσαι τις συσκευές του δικτύου σου. Σε παραπέμπει κατευθείαν στην εφαρμογή Disney Circle, την οποία κατεβάζεις στο κινητό σου και πράγματι σου επιτρέπει να δεις ποιες συσκευές έχουν συνδεθεί στο δίκτυο, ποιες είναι online. Επίσης σου επιτρέπει να τους κλείσεις την πρόσβαση στο internet, αρκεί να είσαι στο ίδιο δίκτυο με το router. Για οτιδήποτε άλλο όμως πιο εξεζητημένο, κάτι από αυτά που διαφημίζει η Netgear στα χαρκτηριστικά του router, πχ. να ορίσεις ώρες τις ημέρας που μια συσκευή μπορεί να έχει πρόσβαση στο internet, να απαγορεύσεις την πρόσβαση επί τούτου σε μια συσκευή απομακρυσμένα, γι'αυτά και άλλα πολλά είσαι υποχρεωμένος να πληρώνεις 5 ευρώ το μήνα για να έχεις την premium έκδοση του Disney Circle. Γενικά, το router αυτό δεν είναι ένα απλό hardware αλλά μια εισαγωγή στον κόσμο του freemium.

    Το ενα αστερακι στη βαθμολογια προκυπτει απο το after sales της netgear στην Ελλαδα που ειναι ανυπαρκτο.
    Προ ενος ετους αγοραστηκε στη τιμη των €70 ευρω (προσφορα λιγων ωρων απο συγκεκριμενο καταστημα).
    Επαιξε για ενα χρονο χωρις ιδιαιτερα προβλημα (δεν ηταν ακριβως rock solid αλλα η netgear βγαζει αρκετα συχνα fw updates.
    Στον ενα χρονο καηκε η wan πορτα του και 2 θυρες lan.
    Μεσω του επισημου site της netgear εγινε αποπειρα να ανοιχτει rma αλλα δεν ηταν εφικτο αφου η netgear σε πληροφορουσε οτι ναι μεν το προιον ειναι σε εγγυση αλλα δεν σου προσφερει καποιο support απο τη σελιδα της η netgear.
    Επομενο βημα να επιστραφει το ρουτερ στο καταστημα απο οπου αγοραστηκε. Εκει με πληροφορησαν οτι δεν επισκευεαζεται και μου προσφεραν το πιστωτικο των €70 που φυσικα δεν αντικατοπτρίζει την αξια του ρουτερ που ειχα.
    Με λιγα λογια, πολυ καλο προιον, ανυπαρκτο after sales support στη χωρα μας.

    Εξαιρετικό dual band ρούτερ, το σύνδεσα με καλώδιο ethernet με το modem/router του παρόχου μου και ησύχασα από τα προβλήματα (χαμηλή ποιότητα wifi, ξαφνικές αποσυνδέσεις κλπ). Είναι μεν ακριβό αλλά απευθύνεται σε χρήστες με απαιτήσεις.

    Το συγκεκριμένο router είναι αρκετά ακριβό κατα τη δική μου άποψη και ύστερα απο κάποιες μέρες που το έχω στην κατοχή μου μπορώ να αναφέρω τα θετικά και αρνητικά:
    Θετικά :
    - αυτόματο QOS.
    -ανώτερο σήμα wifi από τα router των παροχων
    -πάρα μα πάρα πολύ καλό και γρήγορο και με ικανοποιητική κάλυψη 5 ghz wifi.
    -το stock μενού έχει αρκετές λειτουργίες και υπάρχει και app για το κινητό.

    -Πανέμορφο οπτικά.
    -έχει 1 θύρα gigabit ethernet.
    -τεχνολογία μεσω θύρας usb readyhare για printers ή usb sticks.

    Αρνητικά :
    -Πολύ μα πολύ κακό 2.4ghz . Έκανα πολλές διαφορετικές ρυθμίσεις για να έχω ένα ικανοποιητικό αποτέλεσμα.Είχα θέμα στο να συνδέσω τον wireless printer μου με το qos enabled.H ταχύτητα στο 2.4 με transmit power στο 100% ήταν πολύ χαμηλή.Γενικά το σετάρισμα εφιάλτης.
    -Πολύ μεγάλο σε μέγεθος! Είναι σαν τηγάνι! Πάλι καλά που είναι όμορφο.
    -H κεραίες είναι λίγο Floppy θέλουν σφίξιμο αλλιώς κάνουν βόλτες.

    Αξίζει για : Για gaming με χαμηλό latency . Άν οι συσκευές σου έχουν 5 ghz. Άν θες πολύ καλό qos.
    Δέν αξίζει για : Για χρήση γραφείου που θα χρειαστείς πολύ 2.4ghz που παραπαίει.Για αρχάριους γιατί θέλει πολύ παίξιμο στα stock settings.

    Update: Μετα απο πανω απο ένα χρόνο χρήση και πολυ μα πολυ παραμετροποίηση η εμπειρία μου ειναι οτι καλύτερο και στη 2.4 ghz και στην 5 ghz. out of the box εφιάλτης μακριά αν είστε αρχάριος.

    Είναι το καλύτερο router που έχω χρησιμοποίησει ποτέ. Σταθερό σαν βράχος χωρίς disconnects και ανάγκη για restarts για μήνες. Απίστευτη εμβέλεια στα 5 GHz, πολλές ρυθμίσεις και συχνά updates. Επίσης μπορεί να εγκατασταθεί εναλλακτικό software (dd wrt- advanced tomato κλπ).

    Εξαιρετικό dual band ρούτερ, το σύνδεσα με καλώδιο ethernet με το modem/router του παρόχου μου και ησύχασα από τα προβλήματα (χαμηλή ποιότητα wifi, ξαφνικές αποσυνδέσεις κλπ). Είναι μεν ακριβό αλλά απευθύνεται σε χρήστες με απαιτήσεις.

The R7000 of NetGear is a router, a device that connects other devices (e.g. computer, mobile, television) either wirelessly or with a cable, and shares internet access. The device has the ability to configure a VPN (Virtual Private Network) so that traffic from all devices on our network passes through it.     Απαράδεκτο firmware. Update σημαίνει ότι σου χαλάνε σκοπίμως το μηχάνημα ώστε να κολάει κάθε λιγο. Χαλιά και η νέα app εφαρμογή κλείνουν και χαλάνε δυνατότητες. Δεν έχω δει τίποτα τόσο γελοίο να σου σαμποτάρουν με forced update ένα αξιόλογο σε hardware router. Μαύρο από εμένα.

    Δεν είμαι gamer, δεν κατεβάζω 100 ΤΒ ταινίες την ημέρα, δεν το αγόρασα για την ταχύτητα του wifi, οπότε δεν ξέρω αν αξίζει η συσκευή για όλα αυτά. Το αγόρασα για να έχω καλύτερο έλεγχο στις συσκευές που συνδέονται στο δίκτυο του σπιτιού μου και για τα parental controls. Είναι η χειρότερη επιλογή που έχω κάνει ποτέ. Η συσκευή από μόνη της δεν έχει καθόλου parental controls, ούτε καν ένα σοβαρό interface για να διαχειρίζεσαι τις συσκευές του δικτύου σου. Σε παραπέμπει κατευθείαν στην εφαρμογή Disney Circle, την οποία κατεβάζεις στο κινητό σου και πράγματι σου επιτρέπει να δεις ποιες συσκευές έχουν συνδεθεί στο δίκτυο, ποιες είναι online. Επίσης σου επιτρέπει να τους κλείσεις την πρόσβαση στο internet, αρκεί να είσαι στο ίδιο δίκτυο με το router. Για οτιδήποτε άλλο όμως πιο εξεζητημένο, κάτι από αυτά που διαφημίζει η Netgear στα χαρκτηριστικά του router, πχ. να ορίσεις ώρες τις ημέρας που μια συσκευή μπορεί να έχει πρόσβαση στο internet, να απαγορεύσεις την πρόσβαση επί τούτου σε μια συσκευή απομακρυσμένα, γι'αυτά και άλλα πολλά είσαι υποχρεωμένος να πληρώνεις 5 ευρώ το μήνα για να έχεις την premium έκδοση του Disney Circle. Γενικά, το router αυτό δεν είναι ένα απλό hardware αλλά μια εισαγωγή στον κόσμο του freemium.

    Το ενα αστερακι στη βαθμολογια προκυπτει απο το after sales της netgear στην Ελλαδα που ειναι ανυπαρκτο.
    Προ ενος ετους αγοραστηκε στη τιμη των €70 ευρω (προσφορα λιγων ωρων απο συγκεκριμενο καταστημα).
    Επαιξε για ενα χρονο χωρις ιδιαιτερα προβλημα (δεν ηταν ακριβως rock solid αλλα η netgear βγαζει αρκετα συχνα fw updates.
    Στον ενα χρονο καηκε η wan πορτα του και 2 θυρες lan.
    Μεσω του επισημου site της netgear εγινε αποπειρα να ανοιχτει rma αλλα δεν ηταν εφικτο αφου η netgear σε πληροφορουσε οτι ναι μεν το προιον ειναι σε εγγυση αλλα δεν σου προσφερει καποιο support απο τη σελιδα της η netgear.
    Επομενο βημα να επιστραφει το ρουτερ στο καταστημα απο οπου αγοραστηκε. Εκει με πληροφορησαν οτι δεν επισκευεαζεται και μου προσφεραν το πιστωτικο των €70 που φυσικα δεν αντικατοπτρίζει την αξια του ρουτερ που ειχα.
    Με λιγα λογια, πολυ καλο προιον, ανυπαρκτο after sales support στη χωρα μας.

    Εξαιρετικό dual band ρούτερ, το σύνδεσα με καλώδιο ethernet με το modem/router του παρόχου μου και ησύχασα από τα προβλήματα (χαμηλή ποιότητα wifi, ξαφνικές αποσυνδέσεις κλπ). Είναι μεν ακριβό αλλά απευθύνεται σε χρήστες με απαιτήσεις.

    Το συγκεκριμένο router είναι αρκετά ακριβό κατα τη δική μου άποψη και ύστερα απο κάποιες μέρες που το έχω στην κατοχή μου μπορώ να αναφέρω τα θετικά και αρνητικά:
    Θετικά :
    - αυτόματο QOS.
    -ανώτερο σήμα wifi από τα router των παροχων
    -πάρα μα πάρα πολύ καλό και γρήγορο και με ικανοποιητική κάλυψη 5 ghz wifi.
    -το stock μενού έχει αρκετές λειτουργίες και υπάρχει και app για το κινητό.

    -Πανέμορφο οπτικά.
    -έχει 1 θύρα gigabit ethernet.
    -τεχνολογία μεσω θύρας usb readyhare για printers ή usb sticks.

    Αρνητικά :
    -Πολύ μα πολύ κακό 2.4ghz . Έκανα πολλές διαφορετικές ρυθμίσεις για να έχω ένα ικανοποιητικό αποτέλεσμα.Είχα θέμα στο να συνδέσω τον wireless printer μου με το qos enabled.H ταχύτητα στο 2.4 με transmit power στο 100% ήταν πολύ χαμηλή.Γενικά το σετάρισμα εφιάλτης.
    -Πολύ μεγάλο σε μέγεθος! Είναι σαν τηγάνι! Πάλι καλά που είναι όμορφο.
    -H κεραίες είναι λίγο Floppy θέλουν σφίξιμο αλλιώς κάνουν βόλτες.

    Σύνοψη:
    Αξίζει για : Για gaming με χαμηλό latency . Άν οι συσκευές σου έχουν 5 ghz. Άν θες πολύ καλό qos.
    Δέν αξίζει για : Για χρήση γραφείου που θα χρειαστείς πολύ 2.4ghz που παραπαίει.Για αρχάριους γιατί θέλει πολύ παίξιμο στα stock settings.

    Update: Μετα απο πανω απο ένα χρόνο χρήση και πολυ μα πολυ παραμετροποίηση η εμπειρία μου ειναι οτι καλύτερο και στη 2.4 ghz και στην 5 ghz. out of the box εφιάλτης μακριά αν είστε αρχάριος.

    Είναι το καλύτερο router που έχω χρησιμοποίησει ποτέ. Σταθερό σαν βράχος χωρίς disconnects και ανάγκη για restarts για μήνες. Απίστευτη εμβέλεια στα 5 GHz, πολλές ρυθμίσεις και συχνά updates. Επίσης μπορεί να εγκατασταθεί εναλλακτικό software (dd wrt- advanced tomato κλπ).
