Description

The Java Fern is a plant that thrives easily in aquariums. You can drop it directly into the water, where it will start to grow either floating or attaching itself to objects like wood or rocks. It is important not to bury the rhizome, as this can cause it to rot.

The Java Fern does not require substrate, making it ideal for bare-bottom tanks. Regarding lighting, the plant is quite resilient and can grow in low to medium-high light. The best performance is achieved with a 6700k spectrum bulb, although it can also tolerate low light conditions.

Reproduction of the Java Fern is also easy, as it forms tiny ferns at the tips of the leaves that, when mature, attach to surfaces. You can cut the leaves and let them float in the aquarium. Notably, if the plant starts to die, it can produce new plantlets.

Aquarium fish enjoy swimming among the Java ferns, providing rich decoration to the bottom of the tank. Additionally, the ferns are quite robust and are not chosen as food by most fish, as their leaves are thick and coarse.
