After the initial connection, it connects to your phone automatically and starts playback when you use the car. The Apple CarPlay touchscreen and steering wheel buttons remain functional.

The adapter connects to a USB-A or Type-C port in the car using one of the two included cables. It requires a car with built-in Apple CarPlay that supports a wired connection, as well as an iPhone 6 or later running iOS 10 or later. The initial connection may take longer.
