Only in a few corners of the world, the memory of magic is still alive, although just a few centuries ago, its healing power penetrated everything. Witches, the last practitioners of it, have always been marginalized and could only assist human society in strict secrecy. Their people's leader, Septima, has always been the wisest and most knowledgeable witch. Now, as her time approaches the end, witches from all over the world gather in Nuremberg to leave their mark on the hostile city and to prove to Septima that they are her worthy successors.
Septima is a competitive, highly interactive card-based strategy game. As the leader of your coven, you must prove your worth in the city of Nuremberg to become Septima’s successor, the High Witch. Practice your craft and gain Wisdom by gathering herbs, brewing potions, healing the townsfolk, and controlling spells. But beware: magic, even when used for good, breeds suspicion among the residents...
The core mechanic of Septima revolves around the simultaneous, secret selection of one of nine Action Cards each turn: Move, Gather, Brew, Heal, Recruit, Appeal, Hymn, Riddle, and Remember. Each action gains a powerful bonus if chosen by multiple players, but executing them together also raises suspicion among the townsfolk and draws the attention of Witch Hunters. Deciding when to perform a shared action (and with whom) introduces a fresh, semi-cooperative dimension to the competitive gameplay and encourages much player interaction.
Heal witches to build your Covens: Heal, enchant, or persuade the residents and gather enough support to influence the periodic Witch Trials in your favor. If hostile witnesses are outvoted, the condemned witch is acquitted and joins the coven that saved her. You start small, but you can grow your coven to include up to four witches, each with their own personality and special ability to help your cause.
Accessible, intuitive, and familiar: Septima is the most accessible title from Mindclash Games to date, featuring beautiful, handcrafted artwork by Villő Farkas and character art by Barbara Bernát, wooden components, and intuitive, thematically inspired mechanics. It is quick to learn and set up, and plays in less than 2 hours even with four players.
