I expected it to have a wood texture but a very hard varnish makes it really look like a kitchen countertop... it definitely makes it more waterproof and durable but it also takes away all the magic of the wood... on the edges there is varnish as well and you can tell it's an MDF board.... In summary, I would say that for the money it costs it's ok but if there were photos showing what I'm describing I definitely wouldn't have chosen it. It also has a small dent.... Also, in the photo it looks like the letters and numbers are the same color as the light squares, which is not true because the letters are white and the print quality is very mediocre..
