Aqara T1 Water Leak Sensor

The Aqara T1 water leak sensor offers a reliable and smart solution for protecting your property from water damage. Thanks to its advanced technology, it can detect water levels as low as 0.5 mm, immediately triggering an alert on your smartphone or an audible alarm through the AQARA HUB. Its wireless and ultra-compact design allows you to place it anywhere at risk of leakage, such as under sinks, washing machines, or near pipes.

IP67 Certification

The device is IP67 certified, making it fully resistant to dust and water, ensuring seamless operation even in wet or dusty environments. It communicates via the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, which guarantees low energy consumption and a stable connection. It is powered by a CR2032 battery, which offers long life, making the sensor an economical and efficient choice for protecting your smart home.

Compatibility with ecosystems

One of the main advantages of the Aqara T1 is its wide compatibility with the most popular smart home ecosystems, such as Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Alexa, and IFTTT. This allows for the creation of complex automation scenarios, such as shutting off the water supply if a leak is detected (in combination with a compatible valve). Its operation in temperatures from -10°C to 55°C and humidity levels up to 100% makes it suitable for use in bathrooms, basements, and utility rooms.

I have it installed in the basement and the Aqara Hub E1 on the ground floor (more or less directly above it in a straight line) and it works just fine (signal consistently around 80 without any obvious disconnections). Fortunately, so far it hasn't needed to be tested in a real flood situation (and hopefully it never will be!), but all the tests I did with water were successful, with immediate notification (push notification) on our phones both through the Aqara app and the Apple Home app. The only drawback is that although it sends a critical notification, it is neither repeatable nor very intense. The only thing that concerns me is that if I'm outside with noise and my phone in my pocket, I probably won't notice it...
