Description

The irresistible romantic story by Elena Armas, bestselling author of "The Spanish Love Deception" and "The American Roommate Experiment." A demoted soccer executive is forced to enlist the help of a retired soccer star to coach a team of kids in this small-town romantic story, inspired by "Ted Lasso" and "It Happened One Summer." Adalyn Reyes has something to prove. After years of working at her father's soccer club, she wants to make a name for herself. But not for the wrong reasons. When an embarrassing video of Adalyn goes viral, her father sends her to a small town to turn around the struggling soccer team. She arrives armed with plans to whip them into shape, only to discover a team of nine-year-old girls. One person is there to help: Cameron Caldani, a legendary goalkeeper also unexpectedly in town. After an unfortunate incident involving a rooster, the two find themselves on opposite sides. Adalyn thinks Cameron is a stiff, grumpy guy. Cameron thinks Adalyn should take life less seriously. Despite their differences, the two must work together and remember they're on the same team. After all, it's a long game…

Review this product
  • Was it easy to read?
  • Was it interesting enough?
  • I liked the writing style
  • I would read a book by the same author
  • Paper quality
  • I might recommend it for reading
  • ▪️Spice level: 2.5/5
⚠️Trigger warnings: toxic relationships, emotional manipulation, parental alienation
▫️A few words about the book: What does a city girl with dreams and ambitions do, exiled in a small provincial town? Of course, she meets the taciturn single dad and falls in love with him! Through many twists, plenty of humor, and sweet moments, she learns that many times in life things turn out differently and that there shouldn't be only GOALS, but also simple moments.
▪️Style/Writing: The book has slow character development with plenty of internal thoughts from our characters, while generally using simple and everyday vocabulary. The level of English is not difficult, and it can be read comfortably with a lower level. (If you can watch series/movies without subtitles and understand, you’ve got this!)
▫️Why I loved it: It has a very cozy atmosphere and is a book that surprisingly relaxes you. I liked the father-daughter relationship, I found it very sweet, while at the same time the story with Adaline develops beautifully without rushing. It also had many more realistic scenes that didn’t seem staged just for the book.
▪️Why you should read it: If you love and are a fan of romcoms, then this is not to be missed! The love story is not based only on the spice, but also on the emotions, creating even more cozy vibes. Ideal for reading on vacation or at the end of the day.
