The Earthborne Rangers board game is a cooperative, deck-customizable strategy card game set in the wilderness of a distant future. Players take on the role of a Ranger, guardian of a mountain valley, and explore an open world through a campaign featuring a branching narrative, a main storyline, and many side stories. They can follow the main path or discover characters, mysterious ruins, and unusual creatures.
Each player initially builds a deck that reflects their Ranger’s interests, background, and personality, then develops it with gear, skills, and memories from the journey. Each session represents one day in the valley and begins at the map location where the players rested the previous night. The goal is to complete an available mission or explore freely. Rounds consist of a series of actions, with each action involving the choice of a card from hand or an ability from a card on the table. These choices affect the world, where predators, rain, or landslides may appear. The session ends when the players are forced to rest due to exhaustion or injury, or choose to rest.
