The modern diagnostic method has radically changed the face of medical practice; education is still trying to keep pace with this rhythm. We recognize that teachers and manuals often fall into the trap of blessing clinical assessment, instead of explaining its essential role in modern diagnosis.
The purpose of this book is to highlight the evaluation. The history alone may not lead to a diagnosis in 90% of cases, but it is very important for conducting a logical differential diagnosis and for guiding investigation and treatment. In many "underdeveloped" countries, certain so-called physical signs are rare, and some versions of the clinical examination have been sidelined by innovative imaging techniques and morbidity biomarkers.
However, a careful clinical examination is very important in recognizing the patient, pointing out "red flags," identifying problems that are not evident at first glance, and, in some cases, revealing signs that are not detected by tests (for example, the assessment of the patient's mental health). Therefore, the aim is to present how basic clinical skills can be used to the greatest possible benefit.
