The book "Evolutionary Psychology and Psychopathology" by Miltos Leivaditis addresses a rather unknown area of psychology and psychiatry in Greece.
It concerns evolutionary psychology and psychopathology, which examine the intelligent behavior of humans, as well as many other animal species, through the lens of the theories of evolution by C. Darwin, as these have been reshaped in the 20th century primarily thanks to advances in biology and genetics.
Following a brief yet coherent and comprehensible presentation of the biological and geological processes associated with the phenomenon of evolution, a detailed presentation of the most significant evolutionary phenomena concerning humankind from its beginnings to the modern era follows.
Miltos Leivaditis was born in Piraeus in 1946. He graduated from the Kapodistrian University of Athens in Medicine, Political Science, and Law. He holds a doctorate in Medicine from the same university and has a master's degree in Applied Criminology from Sorbonne V University.
He specializes as a neurologist-psychiatrist and has practiced psychiatry for decades from various public and academic positions. He served as a professor of Social Psychiatry at the Department of Medicine of Democritus University of Thrace and has held the title of emeritus professor since 2013.
His published work includes four monographs, the editing of publications, contributions to collective volumes, and about 70 scientific articles in Greek and international scientific journals.
