The Astro Baby Lava Lamp by Mathmos was designed by the inventor of Lava Lamps and founder of Mathmos, Edward Craven Walker. The Astro Baby was the second lava lamp he designed, following the Astro. Although they have a similar design, the main difference is that the Astro Baby is slimmer and more elegant.
Since it was designed in 1964, it has been manufactured at the Mathmos factory in Great Britain. Each Astro Baby Lava Lamp is made to the strictest safety standards, and its exceptionally durable bottle is filled with Mathmos “lava”. This “lava” is made using Mathmos’ unique formula, which allows it to form into fantastic, beautiful shapes with brighter, clearer colours.
The base of the Astro Baby Lava Lamp is made from high-quality aluminium, while the bottle is made of glass. The halogen bulbs used are specially designed for Mathmos Lava Lamps and direct the light and heat towards the bottle rather than the base.
