Upgrade from 5700XT, mainly for 4K and VR, as the 5700XT could not deliver acceptable fps in these two scenarios. It was installed in a PC with i7, 24GB, and EVO SSD, with a bit of a struggle to be honest because it is full-length and even in the medium full tower of my PC, it barely fit through the internal frame for the 5.25" devices.
A complete uninstallation of the previous driver and cleaning with the Cleanup Utility was necessary, but after 2-3 reboots, it worked perfectly. Practical results: over 100fps in Cyberpunk at 4K on Ultra settings, which drops to around 30fps if we max out Ray Tracing, even with FSR3 enabled. In other words, if we don't want Ray Tracing at 4K, it runs comfortably on Ultra settings; if we want Ray Tracing, we need to drop to 2K for a comparable frame rate.
A similar picture in Cyberpunk VR, with Luke Ross's mod the fps ranges between 35-50 at 2180x2180, so while it’s not perfect, it is playable.
Considering that we would need to go to 4080 (double+ the cost) to see any difference in 4K RT, while the 4070 doesn’t offer much better performance, the 7800XT is currently the best VFM card (end of 2024).
Αναβάθμιση από 5700ΧΤ, κυρίως για 4Κ και VR, καθώς η 5700ΧΤ δεν μπορούσε να βγάλει ανεκτά fps σε αυτές τις δύο καταστάσεις. Μπήκε σε PC με i7, 24GB και EVO SSD, με λίγο ζόρι είναι η αλήθεια γιατί είναι πλήρους μήκους και ακόμα και στο μεσαίο full tower του δικού μου PC οριακά πέρναγε από το εσωτερικό πλαίσιο για τις 5.25" συσκευές.
Χρειάστηκε πλήρης απεγκατάσταση του προηγούμενου driver και καθάρισμα με το Cleanup Utility, αλλά μετά από 2-3 reboots δούλεψε στην εντέλεια. Πρακτικά αποτελέσματα: πάνω από 100fps στο Cyberpunk σε 4Κ σε Ultra ρυθμίσεις, τα οποία όμως πέφτουν σε οριακά 30fps αν ανοίξουμε τέρμα το Ray Tracing, ακόμα και με ενεργοποιημένο το FSR3. Κοινώς αν δεν θέλουμε Ray Tracing στα 4Κ παίζει άνετα σε Ultra ρυθμίσεις, αν θέλουμε Ray Tracing πρέπει να πέσουμε σε 2Κ για αντίστοιχο frame rate.
Αντίστοιχη εικόνα και στο VR του Cyberpunk, με το mod του Luke Ross το fps παίζει μεταξύ 35-50 στα 2180x2180, οπότε ναι μεν δεν είναι τέλειο, αλλά playable.
Αν σκεφτούμε ότι πρέπει να πάμε σε 4080 (διπλά+ λεφτά) για να δούμε κάποια διαφορά σε 4Κ RT, ενώ η 4070 δεν βγάζει κάτι πολύ καλύτερο, η 7800ΧΤ είναι η καλύτερη VFM κάρτα αυτή τη στιγμή (τέλος 2024).
