Fluid Dynamic Bearing Fan
High-performance Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fans are designed to leverage the shock absorption effects of oil. They are extremely reliable and produce significantly less operational noise and heat compared to ball bearing fans. Lubrication of the bearing surface reduces friction and vibrations, thereby reducing overall power consumption. Due to the effortless, quieter rotations and robust construction, this reliable fan technology also significantly increases the fan's lifespan.
How it works
When the fan shaft rotates, high-pressure oil is transferred along the grooves of the bearing sleeve to create a thin lubrication layer between the bearing surfaces. As speed increases, the dynamic oil pressure also increases, and the shaft is lifted from the bearing to create smooth, effortless rotations. The herringbone shape of the grooves helps efficiently channel the lubricant and prevent leaks.
