A plant that reaches between 60cm and 90cm in height, with dark green aromatic leaves and tiny purple flowers from July to August. Mint thrives in moist and temperate regions, flourishing in Europe and Asia, cultivated in North America, while some varieties are found in southern Africa, South America, and Australia.
The leaves and stems contain menthol, an oil used for therapeutic purposes, as a flavoring in foods, and as a fragrance in cosmetics. As tea, mint soothes an upset stomach and helps with indigestion.
Due to its soothing and anesthetic action, it is used to combat:
- Headaches
- Skin irritations
- Anxiety associated with depression
- Nausea
- Pain from menstruation
- Flatulence
