Description

After the first operation of the large colonial ships that departed from Earth, humanity's joy was short-lived. Those left behind have entered into a violent conflict over the rapidly dwindling resources on their barren world. These new arrivals do not rely on the idealism of their ancestors but on opportunism, resilience, toughness, and above all, their commitment to survival.

Beyond Earth expands the Civilization franchise from its historical context into potential science fiction futures. Now, many decades after their first landing on a new planet, the proud survivors of the initial missions see the sky darkened by a new breed of pioneers. Rising Tide expands Beyond Earth to new challenges on the planet's surface and beneath its seas, adding even more options and diplomatic capabilities as you continue to build "one more turn" towards a new vision for humanity's future.

  • Colonize the ocean: Create floating settlements and access the natural resources hidden beneath the alien planet's seas.
  • The Ocean offers: A fully replayable map, new gameplay mechanics, and strategic possibilities for players to govern their new world.
  • Dynamic Leader Traits: Players and AI leaders unlock new traits through gameplay and activate different combinations to respond to the changing world.
  • Diplomatic System: These dynamic trait lines also provide benefits and are added to the new diplomacy system, governed by the new Fear and Respect traits.
  • Collect and combine: Powerful artifacts to unlock new perks, unit upgrades, and buildings for your faction in the new world.
  • Invest in Multiple Affinities: Instead of specializing in just one, players can unlock special Hybrid Affinity units and upgrades.

  • This review is about the software format: Key

An expansion for a different Civ game in the series that doesn't offer anything special. It adds some minor changes to technological and social projects, as well as to the strategic trend of assimilation (Harmony, Purity, Supremacy). The few scenarios are interesting, but for those who found the base game challenging, it will be difficult to motivate them to invest another 15 euros to "play it again."
