The sheet music for Ibert's Flute Concerto, published in 1934, is one of the most frequently performed pieces. Written for the French flutist Marcel Moyse, it is considered challenging and consists of three movements: Allegro, Andante, and Allegro Scherzando. The first movement, Allegro, is demanding with a rapid sequence of sixteen notes followed by a more lyrical theme. The Andante, the second movement, is lyrical and reminiscent of the Escales suites. Finally, the Allegro Scherzando evokes French drama through its theatricality and can be challenging for the soloist due to its rhythmic section.
