The HY-601 external sound card connects via USB and supports 5.1-channel audio output, as well as connection to 5.1 speakers. It has analog audio and microphone inputs, a digital optical input, and a digital optical output. It supports full-duplex audio playback and recording without requiring a built-in sound card in the computer.

It supports AES/EBU, IEC60958, and S/PDIF standards, as well as sampling rates of 32 kHz, 44 kHz, and 48 kHz for digital recording. The optical output supports a sampling rate of 48 kHz. It is compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 and supports full-speed USB transfer of up to 12 Mbps.
