What is DENIER? DENIER is the unit of measurement for the thickness of the yarn with which stockings and leggings are made. The lower the number of DENIERS 8, 10, 15, 20, etc., the thinner and more transparent the stocking or legging is. Conversely, the higher the number 40, 70, etc., the thicker it is and the less visible the skin is. However, there are also opaque leggings and stockings, at 50 and 100 den, where the skin is almost invisible. Their use is common during the autumn-winter period.
