Description

Description

Silent power supply, without detachable cables, ensuring stable operation and safety against power fluctuations, with 80 PLUS Bronze certification and a self-regulating 120mm fan.

80 PLUS Bronze

It has the 80 PLUS Bronze certification, which means it offers clean power that reaches 80% of its total efficiency.

Thermally controlled fan

The use of a thermally controlled fan makes the CX series almost silent during normal operation, and the large 120 mm diameter reduces noise even when pushing your system hard.

Plenty of connectors and long cables

  • 1x ATX 20 + 4 pin motherboard power cable.
  • 1x EPS 8 pin processor power cable.
  • 4x PCIe 6+2 graphics card power cables, to take advantage of your computer's SLI or Crossfire capability.
  • 4x SATA power cables for SSD or HDD hard drives.
  • 4x Molex 4 pin cables for connecting additional peripherals to complete your system.
  • 1x 4 pin floppy cable for connecting a floppy disk drive or card reader.

Yes, it is a Corsair power supply, yes, at times you can find it at a good price of 40-50 euros BUT, it comes with ONE AND ONLY 6+2 pin PCIe cable. And we're talking about a full wired PSU. This alone will severely limit your choice of graphics card even though the power supply supposedly supports up to 550 watt load. Therefore, no, I do not recommend it for modern systems even if it is Corsair, even if it is 80 plus Bronze. This will only cover you in scenarios where the GPU is low TDP, max up to 130-150 watts, because anything more will require 2 x 8-pin connectors directly from the power supply. The DUAL 2+6 PCIe cable it has is not capable of handling the workload of a 4070ti or something more modern, unless you want to gamble with your system. Your realistic options, in other words, will be something between RX-6500, RX-6600, RX 7600 8GB, RTX 3050, RTX 5050 and Intel ARC B570 10GB to say that you'll be safe and got away cheaply, I repeat, given that it is a 550 watt power supply.

It has been running almost daily since July 2019 with an rx580 gpu and now r5 5600x cpu. Very good power supply with stable performance that will easily last another 5 years I believe. HOWEVER, with how cheap power supplies of higher wattage are, it simply isn't worth it. Better get a cx650 for the same price or even cheaper.

Recently installed in a system with Ryzen 5 5600 and RX6600, quiet and with black cables. The only issue is that the cables have a metallic sleeve and are not very flexible.

CX series warranty, I have it for about 5 years, running at least 8 hours every day and pushing it to the limit with games most of the time and it hasn't had any issues, it hasn't even been overheated. Recommended!!
