Description

Alan Wake 2 marks Remedy Entertainment's first foray into the survival horror game genre. Ritualistic murders in a small town. A writer trapped in a nightmare. An FBI agent searching for answers. Two realities. Two heroes. One horror story that wants them dead.

Alan Wake's Story

Alan Wake disappeared in 2010. He was a best-selling author based in New York. On vacation in the Pacific Northwest with his wife, Alice Wake, he encountered a force of supernatural darkness.  This brought to life Wake's written work, a horror story. He fought this dark presence and managed to banish it back to where it came from, a nightmarish dark place hidden beneath a caldera lake outside the small town of Bright Falls. Wake wrote an ending to his horror story and with it freed his wife from the darkness beneath the lake, but he himself became trapped there.

Alan Wake is not dead, though he has wished many times that he were. For 13 years he has been imprisoned in the Dark Place, where his nightmares, fears, and stories manifest as reality around him. For 13 years he has struggled to remain sane and to write a story that will change the reality around him so he can escape. So far, he has failed.

The Dark Place

Pacific Northwest

The enchanting landscapes stretch across the state of Washington in the United States' Pacific Northwest. Nature is beautiful and rich here, but there is something very different.

There are three distinct locations to explore.

The quirky and idyllic town of Bright Falls is also home to the annual Deerfest. Nearby is the rundown town of Watery, founded by Finnish immigrants around logging and fishing. Cauldron Lake, a caldera lake outside of Bright Falls, is a striking landmark. It used to be a popular hiking destination, but since it was fenced off by a dark government agency years ago, it has gained a reputation as a place to avoid.

I am trying with great effort and suffering to finish it and IT DOESN'T END! This is a game that becomes a torment, it is not fun at all. Usually with games, you may not get into the mood at first and they may not catch your interest, but gradually as you play, you start to get hooked. With this game, the exact opposite happened. There is some initial interest in the story, but then it drags on so much with nonsense and rambling that it eventually becomes incomprehensible and loses its appeal. Sticking notes on a wall to progress is something that gets tiring, as does changing plots. Killing shadows is uninteresting, Alan is uninteresting and quite unlikeable, Saga is quite likeable and anything related to her might be the most interesting element along with some puzzles. The jump scares are unnecessary and pointless, just to scare you by force. Maybe one of the worst games I've played lately. Such a shame. I think I'll stop suffering and won't even finish it, it's not worth it

What can I say first about Alan Wake 2. I was very hesitant before starting it because the first Alan Wake didn't particularly excite me.
    • Positives •
    - Very beautiful graphics
    - Dark landscapes - places that will keep your interest in exploration
    - Plenty of weapons and accessories - charms
    - A story that will excite you as long as you pay the proper attention
    - Soundtracks that you will want to listen to again
    - As you progress in the game you acquire equipment and you can go back to previous areas you passed and collect collectibles and generally explore
    • Negatives •
Some cult stashes are annoying to figure out how to open
The nursery rhymes puzzles make no sense and personally I struggled to figure them out
P.S. The game requires a clear mind and concentration to understand its mechanics and progress! Enjoy.

If you exclude the fact that to progress you need to know English very well, the game is awesome, amazing graphics, image and sound, scary, it's worth playing.

I have never played a more annoying game in my life. I uninstalled it on the subway. Only for masochists who want to burn their brains... Essentially, it's a multidimensional puzzle game without meaning.

Amazing game, audiovisual spectacle. No relation between 1 and 2 in terms of gameplay and story. It can get a bit tiring as a saga in the mind place. It is a universe together with Control and Quantum Break

4/5 because while when you play as Saga you think what an amazing game this is with Alan's parts, you get lost. You don't know where to go, you wander left and right like a lost curse, you go back and forth in the story with different narratives... and then you have to find the spot, then get something and go somewhere else you've already been at some point etc. etc. which, ok, we see to some extent in other games but here it becomes tiring. You play a game to have fun and you end up swearing. If I have to end up checking YouTube to find a passage, well, maybe I shouldn't play?
In general, it's nicer than the first one but I can say that at some point it tired me out! Nevertheless, I didn't give up because I wanted to reach the end. Definitely not worth full price, but not even close to 30+.
When it drops to around €20, get it and play it.
As for the expansions, one was ok, the lake house I just quit.

Its graphics, sound, and lighting are truly impressive.
Overall, the game creates a feeling of insecurity and fear.
The only negative for me is the complexity of the story.
It left me with the feeling of the old Silent Hill.
I should also mention that there is a code on the disc to download the first chapter of the story (Alan Wake Remastered)

What a game this is! Alan Wake did not receive the recognition it deserved from the public. Maybe it's because it wasn't released on a disc from the start? Did it not have proper advertising? What I know is that it is the most unique game I have played in recent years. Incredible storyline, a game that pulls you in. The best I've played in the last 2 years for sure. From me, 10/10

Did you like the first game? Nice. We probably agree that it was a beautiful game, with a nice and interesting storyline and characters, it had its identity, but you couldn't really say it was one of the most groundbreaking games of all time. It was decent though, and you would want to know what happens next.

You can't imagine how much better the 2 is. Not only does its structure change, but now its essence takes off and becomes what the 1 tried to be and failed: terrifying. Not just jumpscares (which it has some of), but it really makes you feel uncomfortable with its atmosphere and environment, which makes it stand shoulder to shoulder with games like Silent Hill 2 and P.T. Invest without hesitation, but play the first one first to understand the difference.

(Also play Control. There's a reason.)

What can I say about this game? What should I start with? The story? The gameplay? The mindfuck of the whole thing? I hope they continue to release such games because I am very afraid that in a few years we will only have MMO games.

Powerful game in technical aspects better than the first as well as in the evolution of the story.

  • I am trying with great effort and suffering to finish it and IT DOESN'T END!

  • What can I say first about Alan Wake 2.
Enjoy.

  • If you exclude the fact that to progress you need to know English very well, the game is awesome, amazing graphics, image and sound, scary, it's worth playing.

  • I have never played a more annoying game in my life. I uninstalled it on the subway. Only for masochists who want to burn their brains... Essentially, it's a multidimensional puzzle game without meaning.

  • Amazing game, audiovisual spectacle. No relation between 1 and 2 in terms of gameplay and story. It can get a bit tiring as a saga in the mind place. It is a universe together with Control and Quantum Break
