The ISL6228HRTZ chip is a dual-channel synchronous-buck PWM controller for laptop applications. It features Intersil's Robust Ripple Regulator (R3) technology, which offers excellent dynamic response to changes in input voltage and output load.

The integrated MOSFET drivers and bootstrap diodes help reduce components and the required implementation area. Intersil's R3 technology combines the best features of fixed-frequency PWM and hysteretic, eliminating many of their weaknesses.

The R3 technology uses an innovative regulator that synthesizes an AC ripple voltage VR signal, proportional to the output ripple current. The AC VR signal enters a window comparator where the lower limit is the output of the error amplifier VCOMP and the upper limit is a programmable voltage reference VW, leading to PWM generation.
