The Nymphaea lotus is a beautiful species with many varieties from West Africa, featuring leaves that range from green to red-brown with various numbers of purple spots. It can grow between 20-80 cm in height. Before forming floating leaves, the Nymphaea lotus develops many submerged leaves. If you do not want floating leaves, prune the roots and leaves.
The beautiful, fragrant flowers can be fully appreciated in open aquariums. A nutrient-rich bottom encourages growth. It is recommended as a standalone plant for large aquariums.
