Description

Description

The rules of Inheritance Law of the Civil Code are formulated based on the prior law and foreign Codes that served as models for the Civil Code. Over time, theory and case law, as well as legislative amendments, have shaped the living Inheritance Law of our country, adapted to the Greek reality and free from foreign influences.

This Inheritance Law is examined in this work, which appears in its fourth edition. The author’s aim is to conduct research based on the evaluative assessment of interests and to present a dynamic system that will—within the realm of possibility—meet the needs of the theoretical researcher, the practical interpreter, and the student.

And this effort is accompanied by the hope that this goal may have been achieved. May the reader observe, at least with the understanding that distinguishes them, that this hope was not merely a hope.

The formality that characterizes Inheritance Law—risking it appearing as law of numerical calculations and computations—is offset during interpretation by the evaluation of interests, the search for the rationale of each specific regulation, and the formulation of a system of general principles. Diagrams, graphical representations, and examples facilitate the understanding of the structure and functioning of this part of the legal system.

The structure of the work follows that of the Inheritance Law Handbook, which has been published since 1980 in revised and supplemented editions. The book incorporates, appropriately adapted, sections from the author's monographs on topics related to Inheritance Law. With its extensive alphabetical index, the work becomes more user-friendly.
