"Carcassonne" is not a typical board game. Instead, it could be classified as a tile-laying game. Players alternately place pieces (tiles) of land, building cities, monasteries, roads, and fields. After placing a tile, each player can place one of their seven followers on it. The placement of the follower is crucial to the game's progress. If you place a follower on a city segment, they become a knight; on a road - a robber; on a field - a farmer; and in a monastery - a monk. Naturally, points are awarded for each move. When all tiles are placed, the game ends and points are counted. The player with the most points wins. The decision of where to place your follower is critical to the game's progress. You have only seven followers, and they return only when the area they are in is fully completed. Incomplete city segments, roads, and monasteries block your followers until the end of the game, preventing you from scoring points. The game has very simple rules and is surprisingly fun at the same time. It is one of the best multi-generational family games. Ideal for family gatherings. A good choice for rainy days on holidays and camping trips. It wonderfully connects people and "breaks the ice" in new acquaintances! Everyone likes it - regardless of gender, age, and experience in social games! Note: the game includes a mini-expansion "Opat" that introduces gardens and the titles of abbots. The popularity of "Carcassonne" is evidenced by the number of awards it has won and the rich publishing production that continues with new additions and expansions. "Carcassonne" has received the following awards and distinctions: Game of the Year 2001 in Germany, Deutscher SpielePreis – 1st place in 2001, International Gamers Awards – nomination for the best strategic game of 2001.
