Description

Welcome to the best of masterpieces: a selection of the best of science fiction. When Winston Niles Rumfoord flies his spaceship into a chrono-synclastic infundibulum, he is turned into pure energy and materializes only when his waves intersect with Earth or some other planet. As a result, he returns to Newport, Rhode Island, once every fifty-nine days and only for one hour. However, as a consolation, he now knows everything about what has happened and what will ever happen. He knows, for example, that his wife is going to Mars to mate with Malachi Constant, the richest man in the world. He also knows that on Titan - one of Saturn's moons - there is an alien from the planet Tralfamadore, who has been waiting for 200,000 years for a part for his stranded spaceship...

"The Sirens of Titan" was nominated for the Hugo Award in 1960 and is Vonnegut's second novel. It received widespread acclaim and experimented with ideas of free will and destiny, themes he continued to explore in his later works. In 2015, it was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame.

"The Sirens of Titan are wonderful. They are so funny they made me want to cry" - Infinity Plus

"A classic work, full of wit and eloquence, with a cascade of inventiveness" - Brian Aldiss

"His best book... Dares not only to ask the ultimate question about the meaning of life but also to answer it" - Esquire

Pages: 272, Year of Publication: 1031, Dimensions: 13x13cm
