Description

An advanced composition of contemporary design and art permeates the work of architect Stephan Malka, the enfant terrible of architecture. This first book about his office presents a variety of impressive spaces for living and working, balancing between practicality and imagination. Malka is known for the UNESCO Cop22 in Marrakech and the extension of the French Embassy in Vienna, as well as his bold 'guerrilla architecture', such as the Bow-House made of scaffolding and reused doors and windows in the Netherlands.

His work, which combines art and architecture from a humanitarian perspective, stems from the designer's intent to create projects that are positive and sustainable. His office, based in Paris and Los Angeles, implements residences, offices, art installations, and stage designs with the idea that we must always redesign our typical perceptions and challenge established conventions. Thus, stunning locations arise where dreams and realism, baroque and minimalism, ecology and elegance coexist.

The book, an expression of Malka's bold aesthetic and conscious ethics, includes the innovative exploration of modern residence. Among other things, it includes the Mugu House, a dramatic residential complex meeting the mountain in California, in a delicate arrangement of wood and glass. In addition, it presents the interventions and transformations of Studio Malka in existing architecture, as well as the exploration and development of green structure and design, adopting the adaptation and reuse of existing structures and materials - an impressive expression of artistry and innovation that opens its doors and windows to the future.
