Description & Specifications

A comprehensive introduction to microeconomics, without complicated technical terms, emphasizing concepts rather than mathematics, with real-life examples and applications.

Because sometimes an exact theoretical model is not as useful in the real world, the book balances the principles of economics as a social process with mathematics. Microeconomics is an integral part of everyday life: fuel prices, wage increases, healthcare costs, and trade transactions are issues that relate to microeconomics. Thus, in this book (as well as in the other in the series, Macroeconomics: Basic Principles) explanations are accompanied by examples and applications from daily life.

The book covers the basic model of supply and demand and how it interprets most price changes observed in the market. There are references to government interventions in the market, consumer theory, and utility maximization, where both theoretical concepts and practical issues that arise in the theory of the firm, the "demathematization" of marginal revenues, and other related topics in monopolies, perfect competition, and imperfect competition and oligopolies, are discussed through examples (OPEC, Coke, Pepsi).

Game theory is examined through a review of familiar models and concepts, with the warning that this theory is primarily a "mental state"; markets for productive factors, social benefits, and public finance, with the help of tools presented, and international trade. At the end of each chapter, there are examples and exercises, while the appendices include answers to examples of exam topics, as well as solutions to the exercises with even numbering.
