Description

For the Kingdom! is a card management and trick-taking game for one player. The goal of the game is to unite the lush kingdom of Northwood.

You must visit eight provinces and engage in dialogue with their rulers to bring them to your side. Each ruler requires you to win a specific number of tricks to ally with you, making the game more challenging as you progress.

  • You start the game with four allies, each of whom has an ability that you can use once per visit.
  • These abilities can help you draw or discard cards and adjust your hand to reach the target score.
  • After bringing a ruler to your side, you can call upon them to temporarily replace one of your allies.

With multiple difficulty levels, 24 rulers (12 of whom are used in each game), and a booklet of 16 scenarios, For the Kingdom! offers hours of gameplay and a new puzzle to solve every time you open the box.

Very good and simple in rules game for one player. A positive aspect is also the short completion time.
The only reservation with similar games is their longevity, but it has many "missions" beyond the basic game, so it will keep you occupied for quite some time.

One of the best simple board games strictly for one player (solo). The term simple mainly refers to the time it takes to set up and start the game, as well as the learning time and duration of a game.

The board game, although it has a cute/childish illustration, has enough depth and is not at all easy to win. The logic of the game is similar to card games with tricks (e.g., pref, bridge, burlo-bida-belo) - trick taking in English - with the peculiarity that they have managed to implement it for one player!

Essentially, you play against each of the lords trying to convince them to come to your kingdom. To do this, you must win exactly a specific number of tricks. However, you can use some abilities that some of your subjects already have.

It is worth mentioning that if you exclude the suggested setup for the first game (in the context of learning), from there on the way of choosing allies and lords you need to convince becomes completely dynamic and random - each game is different. There are also instructions for a type of campaign with special rules for each game.

Finally, along with the game, I received 5 extra cards with text changes for some lords to replace those from the original version (obviously, some change has been made by the manufacturing company).

Hmm... it doesn't require much thought in general, it's very much a matter of chance so after a certain point you get a bit bored
