Description

The French Army of Napoleon could count on a brilliant cavalry consisting of three main types of cavalry: heavy, medium, and light. The first, made up of carabiniers and cuirassiers, was tasked with conducting frontal assaults. The second, consisting of dragoons and lancers, could perform a variety of duties. The third, made up of hussars and chasseurs à cheval, was responsible for reconnoitering and patrolling. The various regiments were dressed in flashy military attire and distinctive equipment. Perhaps more than any other unit, they embodied the mobility and charm of Napoleonic warfare.

Napoleon began his military career as an artillery officer, which is why he always paid great attention to the quality of his army's artillery, which included units of infantry and cavalry. Many of Bonaparte's greatest victories were achieved thanks to the superiority of his artillery, which was undoubtedly the best in Europe during the period 1799-1815. In addition to the cavalry and artillery, the author also covers the smaller technical branches of Napoleon's army, such as the engineers and the supply chain. All of this is beautifully illustrated with many color images in this book, detailing their organization, equipment, and tactics.
