"I know it's hard. Obviously, you were a good friend to her, but it's time for us to take over now."
Es and Flo fell deeply in love in the 1980s. They have been living as secret romantic partners ever since. As Es becomes increasingly forgetful in their home, an unexpected caregiver shows up. Who sent her? Why? And can they trust her?
As the outside world disrupts their peace, Flo struggles to protect the life they've built together by closely watching a battle for life—to keep the woman she loves close.
Jennifer Lunn's play "Es & Flo" offers a sharp observation and emotional empathy, filled with memories of the Greenham Common Peace Camp. It celebrates an elderly lesbian relationship, women joining forces to stand up for what's right, and the healing power of the chosen family.
The show was commissioned by the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, and premiered there in 2023 before moving to the Kiln Theatre, London, directed by Susie McKenna. It won the Popcorn Group Writing Award and the Nancy Dean Lesbian Playwriting Award.
