Pentanevyro (Plantago coronopus) is a perennial, herbaceous plant with green, fleshy, lanceolate leaves that have serrated edges, forming a rosette at the base. Gradually, they turn dark red.

It is found in pastures, meadows, at the edges of roads, in the fringes/clearings of forests, and on rocky slopes.

Alternative names: Plantango, Kokkoraki, Litospastos, Arnoglossos, Psyllochorto, Ventochocho, Mousa, Nerokoniza, Perdiko patima, Kyparissokho, Korakopodi, Boupristis, Psilidochorto.

Contains: silicon dioxide, tannins, aucubine, flavonoids, vitamins C, K, P, ascorbic acid, potassium, iron, carotene, etc.

PROPERTIES:

  • anti-hemorrhagic
  • soothing, relief from stings, irritations, scratches, wounds
  • expectorant: catarrhal bronchitis, lung problems
  • astringent: diarrhea, cystitis
  • diuretic
  • phlebitis
  • hemorrhoids

USAGE:

  • Tea/infusion: 1 tablespoon in 1 cup of boiling water. Let it steep covered for 10-15 minutes. Strain.
  • Washes: 50-60 g/liter
