The first monograph on the significant contemporary Cuban-American interdisciplinary artist and author Coco Fusco. Tomorrow, I will become an island is the first extensive study of Coco Fusco's performances, videos, and social practice. The book includes contributions from well-known scholars in art history, performance art, and Cuban political culture, as well as an essay by the artist herself. It offers a comprehensive overview of Fusco's interdisciplinary artistic practice and her transnational perspective on race, gender, and power.

For over three decades, Fusco has led discussions surrounding the intersection of identity, feminism, culture, and politics in America and beyond. Emerging in the 1980s as a pioneering advocate for multiculturalism in the arts, Fusco uses performances, videos, exhibition-making, archival research, and writing to reflect on how intercultural relationships and colonial histories shape the construction of self and perceptions of cultural difference.
