The herb acts as a hemostatic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, and vasoconstrictor. It is used wherever there is bleeding, internal or external, and is particularly useful for hemorrhoids.

Due to its decongestant action, it can be applied in cases of injuries or inflammatory swellings. Additionally, its action as a venoconstrictor makes it beneficial for problems related to varicose veins.

The dilute cold decoction of the bark is used for ocular wash in cases of conjunctivitis. Finally, it controls diarrhea and helps with dysentery.
