In 1453, the Ottoman Turks advanced towards Constantinople, aiming to capture the thousand-year-old capital of the Christian Byzantine Empire. During the siege, a small group of poorly organized defenders, vastly outnumbered, faced the might of the Ottoman army. The conflict unfolded on land fronts, at sea, and in underground passages, under the leadership of two great men - Sultan Mehmed II and Emperor Constantine XI. In a surrounding religious atmosphere, as the use of firearms increased, both sides believed that their history was nearing its end.
