Pasteli is a sweet made from sesame and honey. It is a tonic treat, rich in vitamin E, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, iron.

The roots of pasteli go back to Homer's Iliad. Towards the end of the 20th century, pasteli was available in Greece in rectangular pieces of 120-150 grams with a fairly soft texture (melato). Today, pasteli is available in the market in smaller packages but also in products with different textures (melato, crunchy).

There are also other sweet products in which sesame has been replaced by nuts (mainly almonds).
