The rapid improvement of systems for recording and processing financial data, along with the expanding penetration of mathematical and generally quantitative methods in modern economic analysis, gives economics an increasingly "mathematical character."

With this book, we aim to provide students with the opportunity to understand this character, that is, to perceive the connection between economic theory and mathematics, at an introductory level. To this end, responses to exercises and applications of economic analysis are analyzed in a representative manner across a broad field of interplay between economic and mathematical theory.
