This book outlines the historical transformations of modern Aegina, particularly during the period following the relocation from the medieval capital Aegina, also known as Palai Chora, to the new city at the port.
The "Perdikiótikas" represent one of the many "Places of Aegina" that participate in this transformation in their own way, connecting lands and families, investing in collaborations within and outside Aegina, and providing a familiar space for gatherings and transactions.
Established at the end of the 19th century as a grocery store and commercial enterprise, they actually constitute and reconstruct an entire era; that is why the present study not only addresses the history of the building and its founders but also the human stories that compose its "biography" and, alongside it, the "biography" of modern Aegina, which is essentially the journey of the society and economy of the newly established Greek State from the 19th century to the mid-20th century.
