Description

Description

Featuring a quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4 GHz, the Raspberry Pi 5 offers 2-3 times the CPU performance compared to the Raspberry Pi 4. Alongside the significant graphics performance boost from an 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU, dual display output with 4Kp60 via HDMI, and camera support from a redesigned Raspberry Pi Image Signal Processor, it provides a smooth desktop experience. For the first time, it features an IO chip from Raspberry Pi manufactured in-house.

Fully upgraded, redesigned, faster, more powerful

With 2-3 times the speed compared to the previous generation and with internally designed silicon for the best possible performance, we have redefined the Raspberry Pi experience.

RP1

The Raspberry Pi 5 is built using the RP1 I/O controller, a package containing silicon designed in-house at Raspberry Pi.

USB 3 has greater overall bandwidth, for much faster transfer speeds.

The camera and DSI display connectors are interchangeable, so you can have one of each or two of the same.

More than twice as fast and infinitely smoother

The Raspberry Pi 5 features the quad-core Broadcom BCM2712 Arm Cortex A76 processor at 2.4 GHz, making it up to three times faster than the previous generation. With RAM variations up to 8GB, it offers the fastest and smoothest Raspberry Pi experience to date.

Raspberry Pi OS

The latest version of Raspberry Pi OS is designed to make the most of the Raspberry Pi 5. Our newest operating system version offers excellent desktop performance, making it an ideal computer for work, leisure, business, and much more.

If you want a PC, there are many alternatives. If you want to experiment with software and hardware and do some tinkering, it is very good. I bought 2 and made one a media player - thin client and the other a VPN router. Excellent!

It's worth it!!! In the setup, a USB stick with the Ubuntu OS. It's enough. If you want, get an nvme v2 with an argon case and copy the OS from the USB stick to the nvme and everything is good.

Excellent! I immediately got a cooler as well as an expansion for NVMe. If you want to run something special, get the official power supply directly since it seems that if it gets stressed, it pulls quite a bit of power.

Purchased for Home Assistant server (HAOS) and it is fantastic, although it is a bit overkill with its 8GB RAM at least for my setup so far.

After installing Plex server (licensed) configured for internal network only, radarr, sonarr, docker, qb, jackett, homarr on Raspberry Pi OS without a graphical environment, it has been running continuously for over 2 months in a corner of the office. Although it could be a bit cheaper in my opinion, it is a good platform for a Media Center and more.

Tips: If you use it as a Plex media server with an external hard drive, connect it to the USB 2.0 port instead of the 3.0.

I don't have it for 4k playback, so I can't comment on performance. It's okay for up to 1080 though.

In the future, I will change its classic case to Argon Neo 5 with an integrated M.2 hat as an upgrade.

    update 22/8/2024:

Upgrade was done and it was worth it. Pi still working without issues and now directly from an nvme drive without the sd card.

Plays 4k from hdd drive effortlessly. The only thing it doesn't handle satisfactorily is 4k on youtube.
