In Mountain Goats, you work to move your goats to the top of 6 different mountains where they can earn points while they stay there. You can share spaces with other goats on the way up, but there is only room for one goat at the top. If another goat moves to the top of the mountain, it will launch you and you will have to start your journey from the beginning.
It is a game of timing. It's not just about reaching the top of the mountain, but about getting there when no one else can knock you off.
It is a game of watching your opponents. Maximizing your score, but also making sure not to let anyone else score too much.
There is the fun opportunity to knock each other off the mountain. But you don't feel too bad because you can only knock back goats that are in a scoring position, and it's not a huge setback. It's just a normal part of the game's cycle."
