I have a MacBook Air M4, and it doesn't output 2K 165Hz, it only goes up to 2K 144Hz or 120Hz, I don't remember exactly. But essentially, if I'm not mistaken, there's a bottleneck. The HDMI cable wasn't the problem as I checked it.

I changed several. This was slightly more expensive than the previous ones (1-2 euros) but it worked and still works great with my Macbook Pro (2020). Highly recommended!

Attention to those who have a 4K 60Hz monitor and do not have air conditioning in the summer, it overheats and you cannot even touch it. Things are much better at 1080p.
