Determining the intensity, extent, and form of specialization and individualization of educational services in the case of each student with learning and adaptation difficulties is a demanding process, which requires systematic collection and effective interpretation of critical information about the student's functioning, both in the broader socio-cultural environment and within the immediate school context.

This volume presents ways of thinking and acting that enable the collection and interpretation of information regarding the type and effectiveness of learning and adaptation of students with special educational needs in various educational settings, aiming at organizing programs and specifying teaching actions.

Specifically, it introduces the Learning Needs Assessment System (LASAS), which is a cohesive model for evaluating learning and adaptation in school, consisting of eight phases or stages, each with distinct objectives and specialized techniques.
