The Tower of the Queen, in Ilion, is a hidden gem of Attica. It is one of the best-preserved Gothic monuments in Greece. The authentic decoration inside and the gardens impress the visitor.
This book takes us to the early years of the creation of the independent Greek state. It presents the multifaceted work of Queen Amalia, who dedicated much time to the creation of the "Seven Hills," as she named the estate, as well as the current National Garden.
It also presents for the first time the collection of unpublished rare plans by the French architect François Louis Florimond Boulanger for the interior decoration of the Tower.
After many years of restoration work, the Tower and the estate are open to the public.
